Key Theme: 1 Reduction and Analysis Algorithms for Large Databases and Vice-versaAnalysis tool using running-difference polar representation of SDO big data
Authors:
Baek Ji-Hye, Choi Seonghwan, Kim Sujin, Park JongyeobWe have developed a software tool to detect coronal features automatically using the polar representation of Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) data. We focused on the off-limb solar features which shows vivid configuration of coronal feature with height. We have applied this method to 12-second cadence images obtained by SDO. The software consists of three parts: the creation new images such as difference images and polar representation, detection of coronal features, and visualization data set. We parallelized computing process for creating running difference and polar representation because SDO produces huge amount of data about 1.5 TB a day. The output of this software will expand the coronal feature catalog, search engine and viewing service. We expect that the algorithm of this tool would be Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) detection using coronagraph data.
